Gojushiho五十四歩

Gojushiho (五十四歩, "Fifty-Four Steps"), known in the Okinawan dialect as Useishi, is a long and advanced kata whose name refers to a number with Buddhist symbolic significance. It is part of the senior Kyan-lineage repertoire.

The kata is technically rich, featuring intricate open-hand techniques, fingertip strikes and subtle shifts of stance and angle. In Shotokan the form was split into two — Gojushiho Sho and Gojushiho Dai (五十四歩小 / 五十四歩大). If your Jindokai syllabus distinguishes a Sho and Dai, you may want two catalogue entries.
