Suparinpei壱百零八手

Suparinpei (壱百零八手, "One Hundred and Eight Hands"), also known as Pechurin in Okinawan dialect, is the longest and most advanced kata in the Goju-ryu system. The number 108 is deeply significant in Buddhism — representing the 108 earthly temptations or passions — and is found across several southern Chinese martial arts traditions.

The kata encompasses virtually every technique found in Goju-ryu: hard and soft, fast and slow, kicking and grappling, long and close range. It moves through multiple directions, includes ground-level sequences, and demands the full integration of ibuki and natural breathing. Suparinpei is considered the ultimate expression of Goju-ryu and is typically reserved for advanced Dan grades. Many masters regard it as a lifetime study.
